Abstract/Summary

Archaeological analysis of the materials, construction, structural history & dating of the manor house of Melbury Bubb. It is a very complete small gentry house of essentially 17th century character and appearance but incorporating a medieval core which has influenced its later lay-out. In the second half of the 17th century the house was remodelled and given a consistent external appearance in its fenestration and stonework. It has subsequently undergone little change.
