Abstract/Summary
Geophysical survey was commissioned by AC Archaeology on behalf of clients in order to help establish the cultural heritage and archaeological implications of a proposal for housing development. An area of 15ha was surveyed using a twin-sensor fluxgate gradiometer. Magnetic contrast was disrupted by the presence of services passing through the site, but four groups of anomalies were identified which may indicate archaeological features. Two of these may have been convergent ditches previously recorded from aerial photographs, one of which coincided with a field boundary recorded on the 1841 Tithe Map. Another group was thought likely to represented post-medieval or modern field drains and the fourth may have been a former routeway or modern vehicle tracks.
