Abstract/Summary
Pilsdon Pen is a multivallate Iron Age hillfort located 6 km west of Beaminster. The site consists of a well defined multivallate hillfort of 3.2ha partially overlying an enclosure. Within the defences are two barrows, ridge and furrow a small warren and several other features of relatively recent origin.
The survey identified 18 anomalies, including an area of low resistence within the section of inner rampart facing the causeway through ditches, which may represent a late blocking of an entrance contemprary with the causeway.
High resistivity rectilinear features were also identified that require further survey work to determin their full extent.
