Abstract/Summary
Terrain Archaeology undertook the stripping of a plot of land adjacent to Blandford Road, Puddletown, Dorset, prior to development for housing.
Two possible late medieval ditches were recorded, together with the exposure of a large number of periglacial stripes and troughs. This work has enabled some of the features found during the earlier evaluation to be reinterpreted. Many of the features initially tentatively identified as possibly prehistoric features or undated quarry pits have been shown to be periglacial in origin.
A sparse scatter of artefacts was noted during the machine stripping of the site. A small quantity of pottery was retained, together with any worked flint noted during machining.
