Abstract/Summary

An archaeological assessment of part of the proposed route of the West Stafford By-pass was carried out in April 1991. The assessment entailed a combination of surface artefact collection (fieldwalking) and auger survey. The fieldwalking demonstrated the presence of prehistoric worked flint artefacts within the topsoil in the area immediately south of West Stafford, adjacent to two ring-ditches. Two concentrations of worked flint were noted, one corresponding to the location of one of the ring-ditches.
