Abstract/Summary
AC Archaeology carried out an archaeological excavation of prehistoric settlement features on land at Poundbury West Industrial Estate, Dorchester in early summer 2005. This site was the subject of an earlier trench evaluation which revealed a prehistoric ditch. The excavation revealed further elements of a Middle Bronze Age ditch system, with two lengths of ditch at right angles, perhaps with an entrance in the corner. An unusual early Neolithic pit with a series of stakeholes in the base and containing a large quantity of finds was also found.
