Abstract/Summary

A fifth burial was reported from the Came View Estate in 1958, during excavation for drains about 6 feet north of the foundations of no. 17 Casterbridge Road (SY 70618999). The trench had cut through the skeleton, leaving part of the lower limbs on the north and the top of the skull on the south side. As much as possible of the remains were salvaged by Mr. R.N.R.Peers, and await scientific examination. The body had lain approximately E-W (about 250 degrees) with head to the west, apparently extended on its back. No objects were recorded with the burial, which is probably Romano-British.
