Abstract/Summary
Work to services under the pavement on the north side of Durngate Street revealed small sections of Roman road gravel metalling lying directly on chocolate-brown clay (old ground surface). These sections were opposite nos 19 and 21 Durngate Street and correspond to the alignment of the road exavated on the site of the Methodist Chapel on the corner of South Street and Durngate Street (PDNHAS 104, 187-8).
