Abstract/Summary

Wessex Archaeology agreed to complete the excavation and recording of burials at 43 Cornwall Road, Dorchester, started by the misses Hunt during the summer of 1986. A trench measuring 2.8m x 18m had been excavated to a depth of 0.5m revealing an extended adult inhumation oriented N-S. No grave cut or presence of a coffin could be identified. Another adult inhumation lay approximately 0.1m below the first. It appeared to lay on its left side, slightly flexed and oriented S-N, again no grave cut or coffin could be identified. These burials are probably part of the same cemetery excavated at 8 Albert Road.
