Abstract/Summary
“ During the occupation of the Eastern slope of Poundbury Camp, Dorchester, by German prisoners of War, many traces of ancient burials were brought to light, due to disturbance of the soil for roadmaking and drainage. Stone and lead coffins have been found, and have been left in situ awaiting some future systematic investigation, but we have here, on loan from the Council of the Duchy of Cornwall, to whom the property belongs, a bronze wire torc of simple design found in the grave of a child, and actually on the neckbone.”
