Abstract/Summary
This investigation followed a Desk Based Assessment caried out in 1987 of three large mounds documented as Bronze Age round barrows located in Holme Lane Plantation which is subject to a planning application for mineral extraction.
Fourteen trenches were excavated in the area between and around the barrows and placed across small mounds, which had already been disturbed. These evaluation trenches produced no evidence for secondary burial activity nor any other activity in the area, with the exception of some wroked flints located in one of the trenches.
