1. 5191 SOUTH STREET (West Side)
Nos 20 & 22 including courtyard to rear SY 4692 1/93

2. Mid C18. No 20 was built in 1764-5 by Samuel Gundry, tallowchandler, who was at that date using No 22 as his warehouse. No 22 had previously been the home of the Rev Thomas Collins, the Unitarian minister. Red brick. Pitched slate roofs. Coped gable ends. No 22 has contemporary brick stacks. 3 storeys and attics. Wooden console-shaped modillions to eaves. 3 ranges each of sashes with keystones and glazing bars (except for 2nd floor of No 22 which has casements). Central 1st floor window of No 22 is a slightly lower, segment headed casement with curious-shaped fascia board above. Modern shop fronts. 3-centred arch with keystone to central carriage entrance of former Tannery building behind. Spur stones under arch. Cobbled courtyard from arch extending to rear. Rear of No 20 is red brick. 3-storey extension with brick modlllion eaves cornice. Coped gable ends. 1 range of sashes with glazing bars. 1 range of fixed windows (with tripartite sashes with glazing bars on ground floor) planked loading door on 1st floor, and planked door below it. 3 more fixed windows on ground floor. 1 more casement on 2nd floor. Rear of No 22 is part rendered, part colour washed brick. 3-storey extension with brick modillion eaves cornice. Coped gable end. North elevation has 1 range of segment headed fixed windows (and another on ground floor).
Nos 16 to 26 (even) form a group, together with all the Tannery buildings.
