Description

ST 7317 STALBRIDGE THE RING Ringtree House,(Nos 1 and 2) 7/42 GV II Probably part of the old workhouse, (from the evidence of the 1839 tithemap). Now cottages, c1760. Coursed rubble walls with tiled roof and end stone stacks. 2 storeys and attic, single pile. Facade to Green is irregular. All ground floor openings under segmental arches. Variety of windows. That to left on ground floor has iron casement with leaded-lights. Single upper floor window has wooden lintel. Southern facade has dormer windows to attic. Internally no. 2 has shallow chamfered beams with stops. The workhouse was rebuilt at the expense of the parish after a fire in December 1759 and subsequently let as a silk manufactory.
