Water tower, 1900 for the Bournemouth Commissioners. Concrete. Circular water tank supported by 6 tall, square, columns. Columns have plinths; moulded bases, cornices and capitals; 3 chamfered horizontal braces between each pair of columns; and at top moulded round arches and cornice swept out below short, corniced, water tank. Within the columns is a cast-iron stair, supported by 3 iron columns, which has slotted treads and risers; swept tread supports; and rectangular balusters with panels and capitals. The underside of the tank is ribbed and has corbels projecting from columns and circular stair-entry. A former wooden balustrade from the top of the tank was lying in sections on the ground beside the tower at time of inspection. This was a header tank which supplied water to a large ornamental fountain in the Lower Pleasure Gardens.
