Description
An archaeological evaluation on the site of a proposed vehicle hire depot was carried outby AC Archaeology in April 1996. Three trenches were excavated.
Trench 2 was oriented NW-SE, measured 8m x 1.6m in plan and was excavated to a depth of up to 0.8m onto natural chalk. 0.4m of made ground lay above 0.4m of silty clay subsoil containing chalk and flints, which lay above natural chalk. A fragment of clay pipe and a number of worked flints were recovered from the Made Ground layer.
