Description

Magnetometry survey carried out in Feb 1998 by John Gater and Alistair Bartlett for Wessex Archaeology as part of the archaeological assessment of the new Rugby Ground off Coburg Road, Dorchester. The geophysical survey revealed a large number of magnetic anomalies, though these are difficult to interpret. It appears to show a ring ditch and other curvilinear features plus ditches of field system and pits. Also phosphate and susceptibility survey. The survey was followed by excavation (EDO 4094)
