Description

Thomas Bond conducted an archaeological excavation at Corfe Castle during 1883. The trench was located adjacent to the north face of the south curtain wall of the middle ward. Bond was intrigued by a section of Herring Bone masonry within the curtain wall and the excavation was intended to ascertain the plan and function of a building to which this secction of wall belonged.
