Description
Lesley and Roy Adkins undertook a watching brief during the redevelopment of former glebe land on Barnes Lane, Beaminster between November 1995 and January 1996. This comprised the monitoring of the topsoil removal and the mechanical excavation of footings and service trenches for a small housing development on Barnes Lane.
No archaeological features were observed, but a number of 19th-20th century ceramic field drains were noted. A quantity of unstratified post-medieval red ware pottery of South Somerset/ East Devon type, of 17th-18th century date was recovered and a scatter of 19th and 20th century pottery, brick and tile were noted.
