Description
Terrain Archaeology undertook an archaeological desk-based assessment of the site of Proos Roofing Supplies, Rigler Road, Hamworthy, Poole. The desk based assessment of the site covered the development area and a 500m zone around it to, in order to put the information of the site into its local context.
It was found that the site lies in an area of high archaeological potential. There is a nationally important Iron Age and Roman site 100m to the east, as well as a Roman military site of national importance to the southeast. It is postulated that the site has a high probability of surviving archaeology deposits, though this cannot be determined without further intrusive investigation. (1)
