Abstract/Summary

An archaeological desk based assessment was carried out by Terrain Archaeology as part of the Planning Condition for the construction of extensions to the existing buildings on site. Although it cannot be determined, on present knowledge, that there are surviving archaeological deposits on the site, the probability is high. It is likely that these are buried about 1 m below the present ground surface, judging from the evidence from the three closest excavations to the site, where the archaeological horizons were sealed beneath later deposits between 0.75 m and 1.35 m in depth. Any development in previously undisturbed ground is likely to destroy potentially significant archaeological remains in this area.
