Description

AC Archaeology conducted a watching brief at West Walks and adjacent to Bowling Alley Walk during the replacement of steps, a footpath and a fence. The removal of the steps was undertaken using a pneumatic hammer, and the spoil removed by 360ยบ tracked mini-excavator with a 1.6m wide bucket. Tarmac from the footpath was removed by hand, using a pneumatic hammer. The works were closely monitored throughout all of the groundworks, and was completed without damaging the monument. No archaeological features were observed during these works.
