Description
Terrain Archaeology undertook an evaluation of the north-western corner of the site of the former Pilkington Tiles Factory Site, which had been identified as the least disturbed part of the site. Three evaluation trenches (1-3) were dug, initially 10m long and 1.5m wide. A large ditch about 7 m wide and oriented NW-SE was encountered in trench 2, which was extended to a total length of 22.4 m to expose the full width of the ditch. The other two trenches contained a number of small Roman ditches.
