Description
Desk-based assessment of a site on the north-eastern edge of the village, comprising overgrown pasture.
There are 28 listed building being located within the village and 15 recorded historic monuments within a 500m radius, mostly of medieval date and related to extensive agricultural activity recorded to the north of sthe site, as well as a possible deserted medieval settlement to the south-east. Historic mapping illustrates that the Site has remained undeveloped since at least the early 19th century.
An area of Roman occupation has also been identified to the west of the site, raising the possibility that ealier remains may be extant below the medieval agricultural levels.
