Description

The Trust for Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by English Heritage to record the physical remains of the Abbey, house and gardens. Three groups of garden or drainage features were identified within the grounds of Abbey House. An examination of the hydrological regime showed that the water gardens could not have reached their present form before the latter part of the 18th century at which time comprehensive landscape planting was undertaken.
