Abstract/Summary
Three groups of garden or drainage features can be identified within the grounds of Abbey House (the descriptive terminology is that used throughout the Trust for Wessex Archaeology archive, and has no basis in historical usage). An examination of the hydrological regime demonstrates that the water gardens cannot have reached their present form before the latter part of the 18th century, at which time it is suggest that a comprehensive landscape planting was undertaken.
