Description
Observations and recording during works to form a new terrace on the north terrace of the Nothe Fort. A small part of the northern wall of the fort was revealed, but little else of archaeological significance. Gun Port 9 had been blocked with Portland Stone ashlar before earthwork construction. No dating evidence was recovered but this seemed most likely to have taken place 1906-14 when three new 9-inch guns were installed on the rampart.
