Description

Observations and recording during the digging of foundations for an extension to Hill Close Lodge, an area of around 24m2 This involved the removal of up to 1m depth of overburden consisting of approximately 0.3m of topsoil and sub/ploughsoil 0.35 to 0.7m thick, on top of a coarse to medium sandy natural soil. A linear feature and an oval pit-like feature were recorded. The filling of both features contained small quantities of Romano-British pottery.
