EWX1928 - Moortown Cemetery, Magna Road, Poole; desk-based assessment 1995

An archaeological desk-based assessment on an area of land set aside for the development of a cemetery and associated car parking was undertaken by Poole Museum Service Archaeological Unit in October 1995. This assessment concluded that the site of the proposed cemetery was in an area highly likely to contain archaeological remains as it lies on a similar geology to the adjacent excavated sites of Moortown aerodrome and White's Pit, which produced evidence for complex multi-period activity.
