There was an access portal to the roof which had a lead coping. On this coping were scratched various signatures and dates, of which the earliest was by a member of the Samways family and dated 1818. The lead has been removed and its whereabouts is unknown. The house may originally have been built by Henry Tizard in 1759. (2)
