Abstract/Summary
Dear Sir/Madam
I lived at the above address from 1962 - 1985 and my father and grandfather also lived here having the tenancy of the farm.
I remember that there was an access portal to the roof which had a lead coping. On this coping were scratched various signatures and dates. I distinctly remember the earliest of these was inscibed by a member of the Samways family and dated 1818 (I can't remember for sure the christian name of this person although it was also inscribed). I mention this as the lead has since been removed and its whereabouts is unknown so as I may be the only person who can remember it I was hoping that you could add it to your records.
I was told at the time when I lived there that the house was originally built by Henry Tizzard in 1759. This information had reputedly originated from the Dorset Record Office though I can't confirm this one way or the other.
I hope this information may be of some use.
Regards
Pat Waterman
