Full Description
A small circular hearth sealed beneath a silt layer containing briquetage fragments was found at Pilkington Tiles Ltd, Hamworthy during an excavation by Poole Museums in 1979. The hearth was roughly circular, 0.5 m in diameter and 0.14 m thick. It was not closely dated and its precise function was not determined.
SZ 0038390402. A machine trench was excavated in 1979 at Pilkington Tiles Ltd, and revealed a grey-green silt layer, containing small briquetage fragments, sealing a circular hearth 0.5 m wide and 0.14 m deep of uncertain function. Neither are closely dated. <1>
