Summary

A small irregular ditch of possible prehistoric date was found during the evaluation of the proposed site of a new cemetery at Moortown, Poole. It may have been associated with an adjacent Late Bronze Age pit.

Full Description

A small slightly irregular ditch was excavated by Poole Museum Service Archaeological Unit during the evaluation of the proposed site of a new cemetery south of Magna Road, Poole, which was initially identified from geophysical survey. No dating evidence was recovered, but the character of this feature was different from other ditches identified as post-medieval boundaries by the excavator. (1) This pit lay adjacent to a large Late Bronze Age pit and may have been associated.(1)
