Probable Second World War beach obstacles are visible on aerial photographs of 1945 along the beach front at Southbourne. The beach obstacles are visible as uneven piles of rocks extending for a total distance of 530 m, running parallel to Southbourne Coast Road. (1) The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
