Summary
A Second World War bomb crater and an area of bomb damage are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 to the east of Banks Road, at the southern end of the neck of the Sandbanks peninsula. The bomb damage is in the centre of a line of anti-tank cubes (see MDO28688).

Full Description
A Second World War bomb crater and an area of bomb damage are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 to the east of Banks Road, at the southern end of the neck of the Sandbanks peninsula. The site consists of one defined crater, visible as sub-circular depression measuring 4 m in diameter, and an open area of damaged ground measuring approximately 95 m by 80 m. (1) The bomb damage is in the centre of a line of anti-tank cubes (see MDO28688) and is not visible on aerial photographs of 1941. (2) The area is now a car park. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
