A section of a 19th century to early modern tram way is visible at the Newton Clay Works on aerial photographs of the 1950s on Newton Heath. The tramway was used to transport ball clay from the works to Goathorn Pier. The tramway extends from north east to south west for a distance of 138 m. The tramway had a 3 foot 9 inch gauge and ceased to be used in 1936. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
