Full Description
A group of buildings and structures are visible on 1940's RAF aerial photographs of Ringstead taken (1-2). They are considered likely to be operational buildings associated with the chain home radar station that was active here between 1940 and 1956. They probably form part of a group of dispersed structures relating to the radar station which included reciever masts, transmission and reciever blocks, accomodation huts, guard huts and standby set houses. They are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
