Second World War beach defences are visible on aerial photographs of 1941 along the beach front at Bournemouth. The beach defences appear to have been removed later during the Second World War and replaced with scaffolding further to the south. They extend from Studland Road to Durley Chine as two lines of defences, then continue as a line of posts to the area to the west of Bournemouth Pier. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
