Monument record MDO3919 - Late medieval cross base, Hammoon
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Cross base some 50 yards south of the church. Probably 15th century. An inscription on one side records that the base was taken from nearer the church and set in its present location in 1913. The cross has a socket stone and part of a cross shaft. The square socket stone is chamfered at the top to form an octagon and rests on a rendered brick base. The lower half of a cross shaft, rectangular in section, sits on the base. At the top of this fragment of the cross shaft there are the remains of an arm.
