Monument record MDO6269 - Linear features, land to the rear of 25/27 West Borough, Wimborne Minster

Several undated linear features running north-south.

Evaluation in advance of development revealed a black soil overburden of post-medieval date, and varying in depth from 700mm to 950mm. This soil sealed an alluvial sub-soil horizon, around 400mm deep, of unknown date. No features were observed below this layer, which was truncated in places by seventeenth-century and later features, and lay on top of natural subsoil. A number of linear features were observed; the fillings of some contained post-medieval material, and others could not be dated. No evidence for medeival or earlier activity was present on the site.
