Full Description
A hoard of Roman coins dating from 310-318 AD was found in a field near Upton House in February 1986. The hoard of 1,663 coins was minted in London, Trier and Lyons. Limited excavation revealed a further 21 coins and the remains of 2 pots used to stow the hoard. Other finds recovered from the site included fragments of briquetage and three other Roman pot sherds, which may indicate the site is peripheral to a Romano-British settlement area. <1>
