A possible Late Bronze Age pit, dated by a single Late Bronze Age sherd, was found within a multi-period ditched field system during a watching brief at Bearwood Primary School by Wessex Archaeology in 1994.

Full Description
A single possible pit of possibly Late Bronze Age date was recorded during a watching brief carried out by Wessex Archaeology in 1994. This pit was linear, being about 4 m long and 0.72 m wide, aligned NE-SW. It had steep sides and flat base 0.26 m deep. It was filled with a lower greyish brown loam and capped with a thin layer of mottled clay. A single flint-gritted sherd of probably Late Bronze Age date was found in the lower fill with two flint flakes in the upper fill and burnt flint throughout the feature. This feature lay within a multi-period ditched field system dating from the Late Bronze Age to the medieval period. (1) (2)
