Full Description

Several large baulks of timber observed during a watching brief. The timbers were typically 3m long 700mm in diameter, roughly circular in section and with cut facets. It is suggested that it may be a stump of a mast or similar component of a vessel, but it is more likely to be a mooring post or quayside piling. They may be related to or earlier than the stone wall also exposed on this site.(1)
