Abstract/Summary

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by Terrain Archaeology between November 2007 and March 2008 during residential development of land at South Drive, Cattistock, Dorset (SY591994), which formerly formed part of the garden of the rectory. A small number of undated features were recorded. An E-W boundary ditch was found running across the site, probably an earlier field boundary pre-dating the garden, though the line of this boundary was preserved within the garden layout. The remaining features were ceramic and stone-filled field drains and a well-built stone culvert. At the low-lying southern end of the site, peat and alluvial deposits were exposed.
