Title | The archaeological evaluation of three areas of proposed gravel extraction adjacent to Henbury Pit, Sturminster Marshall, Dorset. Part one: Area A |
Author/Originator | Cox, P W |
Date/Year | 1993 |
AC archaeology | 1493/1/0 |
Abstract/Summary
The archaeological evaluation of Area A at Henbury Plantation was carried out in March 1993. The investigation comprised the excavation of a 1.5% sample of the available area using a mechanical excavator. No subsoil deposits of likely archaeological origin were located, nor any artefacts indicative of archaeological activity in the area. An earthwork bank, forming the east boundary of the site, may represent a former land division, probably an estate boundary.
