Abstract/Summary
Report on geophysical survey of 27ha of land as part of a staged evaluation of a site proposed for development. A fluxgate gradiometer was used. The resulting data revealed some anomalies of possible archaeological origin, including a sinuous ditch at the eastern edge of the site; this might possibly be a palaeochannel. Signs of cultivation, including possible ridge and furrow, were recorded in most areas. Two linear zones of strong variation corresponded to recent tracks and a field boundary shown on historic maps. Buried services were also evident as strong magnetic variation. Other anomalies revealed features of probable natural origin such as tree throws and palaeochannels.
