Abstract/Summary
'Terrain Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation of a plot of land to the rear of 1-3 Weymouth Avenue, Dorchester, Dorset. A single trench 7.5 m long was excavated, investigating a sample of approximately 2.6% of the site. The trench revealed a thick layer of medieval and later agricultural soil below late nineteenth and twentieth century deposits.
No archaeological features were exposed. However, the site lies just outside the Roman town defences of Dorchester, in an area where Roman burials have been found previously and the potential for isolated Roman burials on the site still remains.'
