Abstract/Summary
An archaeological evaluation was carried out consisting of the excavation of forty-six trenches and six geotechnical pits. 38 trenches contained archaeological features. Four Bronze Age ring ditches were identified with associated internal and external pits. A double ring ditch (Trench 27) contained a central cremation burial. A ring ditch to the south (Trench 15) contained a possible disturbed burial. Several pits dating to the Bronze Age were recorded with two further possible crouched burials. There was no evidence of Iron Age or Roman activity on the site despite Roman activity being known to the north, but later prehistoric activity was found in the west of the site in the form of ditches, and other field boundary ditches which could not be dated, as well as some evidence of medieval and post-medieval activity within the site.
