Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was carried out in January 2008 during groundworks to form a new patio for Colliton House, Dorchester. A chalk-lined well that had been converted into a drain or soakaway with the construction of a chute beneath the 18th century part of Colliton House was exposed. The well is undated, but may be medieval or early post-medieval in date. The conversion
of the well is likely to be early 18th century in date.
