Summary
Second World War anti-tank blocks are visible on aerial photographs of 1945 at Durley Chine. A semi-circle of six anti-tank blocks, measuring approximately 10 m in total length, are located on the seafront to the east of Durley Chine. Two other areas of anti-tank blocks are located within Durley Chine (see MDO28599 and MDO28600).

Full Description
Second World War anti-tank blocks are visible on aerial photographs of 1945 at Durley Chine. A semi-circle of six anti-tank blocks, measuring approximately 10 m in total length, are located on the seafront to the east of Durley Chine. (1) Two other areas of anti-tank blocks are located approximately 45 m to the west, within Durley Chine (see MDO28599 and MDO28600). Anti-tank blocks, made of reinforced concrete, were one of the coastal crust defence measures used to protect vulnerable areas during the Second World War. The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
