Find Spot record MDO803 - Bronze Age worked flints from Burton Pumping Station, Charminster
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A general scatter of worked flint recorded during fieldwalking before the pumping station was built in 1992. Implement types included borers and scrapers, with some probably edge retouched flakes, of probable Middle to Late Bronze Age date. No particular concentrations of material were observed. The archaeologists who recorded the material noted that the workmanship was relatively poor, suggesting domestic production, but felt that it did not necessarily represent a settlement site.
